Incorporated as a company limited by guarantee, the Irish Property and Facility Management Association is the professional body for the property and facility management profession in the Republic of Ireland.
Formed under the auspices of The Society of Chartered Surveyors in October 1989, the IPFMA has grown steadily over the past two decades to a current membership of over 500.

Property and Facility Management involves the application of multi-disciplinary activities to property and the support services necessary for the efficient and profitable conduct of business, including the management of their impact on people and the workplace. By contributing to the delivery of its strategic and operational objectives, effective property and facilities management is vital to the success of an organisation. Within this fast growing profession, property and facilities managers have extensive responsibilities for providing, maintaining and developing services, ranging from property strategy, space management and communications infrastructure, to building maintenance, security administration and contracts management.
The IPFMA represents all those involved in the profession and its objective is to develop and maintain excellence in terms of skill and professional conduct in all aspects of the market, through the provision of education, training, professional development and regulation of its members.
Structure
The IPFMA is governed by an elected Board of Directors, comprised of members from all sectors of the property and facility management profession.
The Board of Directors is responsible for setting policy and strategy, the implementation of which is driven by the General Manager. The Board of Directors meets at monthly intervals and reviews, through its subcommittees, developments in the following areas:
- Legislation
- Health & Safety
- Education
- Environment & Sustainability
- Security
- Maintenance
- Technology
- Finance & Service Charges
- Disciplinary Matters
Role
The IPFMA is responsible for the development and maintenance of excellence in all aspects of the property and facility management industry, in the interests of the public and its members alike. This ranges from education and qualification to professional conduct, continuing professional development and industry standards.
In parallel with its mission to foster excellence within the profession, the IPFMA acts as a portal for the exchange of information (both amongst members and consumers), publishes professional commentary and reference material and hosts topical events.
The IPFMA makes submissions to and canvasses Government and relevant state organisations, on behalf of industry, in matters of property and facility management interest.
In addition, the IPFMA creates public awareness of the property and facility management profession and is there for the protection of consumer interests, as well as the interests of its members.
