
CPD (Continuous Professional Development)
The primary objective of the IPFMA is to promote Property & Facility Management as a recognised management profession and to promote higher industry standards. CPD represents ongoing personal learning and development within our profession.
The IPFMA present a CPD Programme throughout the year enabling Members to keep abreast of issues affecting the industry and to understand the environment in which we work. The required CPD commitment for Members is to complete 60 CPD hours over a consecutive three year period with effect from the current cycle commencing 1st January 2011.
Members are required to maintain their own CPD records online in their profile in the Members’ area. The IPFMA undertake random audits to confirm compliance with minimum CPD requirements. Members are required to retain records of attendance at seminars, conferences, CPD’s etc for verification purposes.
- IPFMA encourages its members, affiliates and students to attend as many CPD events as possible.
- All Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events are held at 1pm on Thursdays in 38 Merrion Square, Dublin 2, unless otherwise stated.
- All CPD events are free of charge to Members, Affiliates and Students of the IPFMA Higher Certificate Programme, unless otherwise stated.
- IPFMA Corporate Members may send non-member staff to IPFMA CPDs free of charge.
- Non-member rate for CPD events, unless otherwise stated, is €25 per lecture.

CPD Categories
The following categories qualify as CPD hours. The time entered on your record should truly reflect the time attended. Please note that certain categories have maximum hours attendance in any one 3 year CPD period.
Property Related Events | Max 55 hours of 60 in one 3 year period | This includes courses, CPD seminars, training sessions etc |
Educational Courses | Max 55 hours of 60 in one 3 year period | Includes full time or part time academic study courses in the property profession |
Research / Publications | Max 40 hours of 60 in one 3 year period | Time expended in researching data for a published article |
Working Group Meetings | Max 15 hours of 60 in one 3 year period | Time incurred by attending working group meetings of property related bodies |
Personal Study / Reading | Max 20 hours of 60 in one 3 year period | Time incurred in reading professional publications or self study in a property related area or professional skill development |
